F&L completes the design of three pipe replacement projects
for the West Bay Sanitary District
In early 2010, F&L completed the design of three pipeline replacement projects for the District; the Bay Laurel West Project, the Bay Laurel East Project, and the College Park South Project. Each project consists of between 4,000 and 5,000 linear feet of pipe replacement by both traditional open cut method and Cured-in-Place Pipe method. These projects will be bid in Spring of 2010.

F&L has worked with the District for the past 10 years and cherishes the outstanding relationships with District staff and Board Members. Working together has lead to very successful projects in the past, and no doubt, these projects will be just as successful.
F&L completes design of two lift station projects
for the City of San Leandro
In late 2009, F&L completed the design of two lift stations for the City; the Wicks Lift Station and the Blue Dolphin Lift Station. F&L feels very fortunate to have been selected by the City to design a number of projects. This is the fourth design project completed by F&L for the City and will be bid in early 2010.
City of Burlingame selects F&L for Storm Drain Design Projects
In early 2010, the City of Burlingame requested Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) from qualified consulting engineering firms to design storm drainage improvements throughout the City. These projects will consist of improvements to storm drainage infrastructure such as drain inlets, street curbs and gutters, valley gutters, storm drain mains, and other miscellaneous storm drain infrastructure.

The City received 16 SOQs. F&L was one of three design firms selected to perform design services. F&L is very excited for this opportunity and looks forward to working with the City to improve storm drainage throughout the City in the years to come.
F&L wins APWA Project of the Year, Mission Bay
F&L has been the design engineer and project manager on many infrastructure projects for the Mission Bay Redevelopment Group, but none have the character and the vibrancy of the Recreational Area/Sports Park off Berry Street, adjacent to, and under, Highway 280. In 2009, as the project’s engineer and project manager, F&L won the American Public Works Association Project of the Year. This award was followed the San Francisco Chronicle calling the park as one of the 10 Best Parks in San Francisco.

With the site vision of Marta Fry Landscape Associates, the project area included the design of three sub-parks; a linear park along the Channel, a sports park, and a dog run area. The project also included the design of a kayak storage building designed by MKThink and a kayak launch pier and floating dock designed by Noble Consultants, Inc. The park is currently being enjoyed greatly by the neighborhood surrounding the park and, of course, the kayakers who launch from the floating dock and end up in McCovey Cove waiting for a home run ball.

F&L looks forward to designing more projects for the Mission Bay Development Group, hopefully leading to more awards, but more importantly, neighborhood enjoyment.
SBSA Selects F&L as a Design Consultant
In 2008, the South Bayside System Authority (SBSA) selected F&L as one of five consultants to study/design the replacement of wastewater conveyance systems leading to the wastewater treatment plant.

F&L has gained great experience in pump station and pipeline replacement from years of service at the West Bay Sanitary District, the East Palo Alto Sanitary District, and recently, at the City of San Leandro. With this experience, F&L looks forward to working with SBSA to improve their facilities in the years to come.
